The first half of the movie seemed convoluted but things began to fall together in the second half. The second half is packed with action, suspense and high class drama. This movie is a must watch for detective movie fans.

Typical Mel Gibson role but he plays it so well and is so believable... great action movie... officially has the MOST unexpected seen that made me scream for the first time EVER in a movie!!!

I was distracted by all the rants Mel Gibson has made with ex-wife Oksana. The whole time I did not enjoy the movie because I thought of how unfairly he treats people. With rants 1/10, without rants 8/10!

Worth the price of admission but not a movie you come out talking much about. Tv shows like criminal minds, CSI, and without a trace all have episodes that can rival the thrill and plot this movie provides.

Just watched it on DVD with my mom. It was a decent movie with a good story plot. However, the sound was awful. The movie was 80% talking between characters and the talking was all WHISPERING! We couldn't hear a damn thing. Kind of predictable. A movie that has definitely been done before, but decent enough to rent and watch whenever.

Mel Gibson returns to the BiG Screen after being away for quite some time. He certainly has aged a lot over the span of his career but still has a little spark of Mad Max left in him. The story itself had some holes that left the audience with questions but overall not that bad as a rental at best.

The movie started and ended well but the 1.5 hours in between were almost painful to sit through. The plot was idiotic. Mel Gibson's accent was hideous and ridiculous.

I think it was a great movie. Good storyline and great acting. Yes, maybe a little bit "old school" (this is why we liked it) If you need constant shooting, car chasing, exploding, then don't watch it.

Movie started well but was a little slow, boring most of the time, good actors, OK acting, but not much more. What's with Mel's Boston accent sometimes he spoke like he inhaled helium, very strange. I was really hoping to see Mel's character as he was in the lethal weapon series.

Whoever is calling this an action movie is wrong; it is a mystery thriller. And not a terribly thrilling or mysterious one either. The plot is unoriginal and lacking in surprises. Sure, there is the odd shocker moment (and they really are pretty shocking), but there's nothing that really stands out about this, with the exception of Mel's freakout moments. It's a whole lot of fun watching him mess up some jerk who gets on his nerves or in his way. And for that and that alone it gets a 7.

A good performance by Mel Gibson, but the plot lacked depth and originality... and especially the rage of lets say a movie like Taken. Over all I found it to move way too slow and it couldn't decide weather it was going to be and action, thriller or drama. It fell short on all 3. Still worth seeing, but I'd rent it.

I did not like this movie at all. However, to be fair, my friends and I went into this movie not knowing anything about its plot, and it seemed like every 5 minutes, a part of someones body was blown out. That was the only thing that kept me interested. I found it hard to follow, irrelevant, and pretty disturbing. However, maybe if it's your type of movie, it will spark your interest.

Worth seeing. If you miss it in the theaters, then buy it or rent it. It's not just a good story, it's thought provoking. Deals with moral dilemmas and has a few jump out of your seat moments as well.

Wasn't expecting anything from it. Just went gnaaa! Alright... Anyway, even if I believe Mel is getting too old for that kind of action movie, it was alright. I would have give it a 6.5 but no can do with the scale provided. But you might want to wait for the DVD.

Buy the series on DVD - better use of your money. Unfortunately, the movie was only a pale immitation of the orginal. The Jedburgh character was a complete mystery to me. In the series - he was one of the highlights.

Amazing, given the number of high ratings, that the average reflects in the mediocre range. Perhaps the criticisms that the movie is slow and that there is too much dialogue says more about the capacities of those criticizing it than it does about the film.

Really loved it, I thought it was well worth the $4.95... I think Mel does an excellent performance. You really get into his soul when he looses his daughter and there are moments when you feel his loss so much like at the end. It is very heartbreaking, I do not know if it would be wise to watch this if you have lost someone... Very sad...

It's an authentic thriller. Clean cut action. Great truth behind it. It left me on the edge of my seat at moments... I love that! The killing was exactly what you would expect in an action/thriller movie ' wam bam thank you ' straight to the point. I havent enjoyed a movie like this in a long time!!! Pls go See!

I am a big fan of Mel Gibson so I had to see his acting return after an 8 year absence. I was disappointed. The story is a police procedural better suited for television than the big screen; Gibson is just an ordinary cop in a small city with most of the film just talking. I was expecting something on a grander scale -like "Taken"- international locations with a highly trained covert operative. Apparently, Gibson is set next to direct a Viking movie spoken in the Norse language- it should be better than "Edge of Darkness".

This movie is excellent! Action, suspense, horror and thriller all rolled into one. A couple of scenes were shocking and disturbing that left me frozen in your seat wondering what the hell just happened. At some points I had tears in my eyes, the story really hits home on losing a family member. On a very positive note, Gibson is back baby, his acting was awesome. This is a must see movie!

This is one of the few times that the collective rating of the average viewer has disagreed with mine. This movie didn't have a few loose ends; it didn't have plot holes; it had plot craters: there were so many things that were neither explained properly nor thought through. Oh, the acting was good. But the plot? How does a half-gased man so easily escape from an allegedly well guarded compound? Why go through the trouble of publicly killing a worker you're already slowly poisoning? What does it matter if a nuclear weapon is made with foreign parts? Missiles can traced using their trajectory. And if its simply for dirty bombs for the purpose of sale, why would the United States government be implicit in it after 9/11? Etc. etc etc. I personally think it's a movie that insults the viewers' intelligence.
