[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] This is one of the best movies that Clooney's starred in (I'd rate it at 7.5) It's not, however, what it's labelled/sold as being: a comedy. (A psychological study with one or 3 funny lines doth not a comedy make, esp. when - as it this case - there's an Unhappy Ending) Moreover, it is NOT a film to go see if you have any insecurity whatsoever about your day job.

It's an emotional movie but not like sad or too girly. George Clooney is always a good actor. I really enjoyed this movie. No wonder it's nominated for a bunch of oscars!

Wonderful adaptation... definitely Oscar-worthy. Well-directed, well-acted, interesting characters and situations... Just book a night and go!

Hard to classify this one... a romantic comedy/drama perhaps. Very smart, thoughtful, pongnant screenplay that kept me entertained as well as giving me something to think about. Great acting by all.

It is a really bad movie. Don't see it. The acting was bad and the plot was very predictable and boring.

Apart from V. Farminga I was BORED TO DEATH! And that Anna Kendrick couldn't act herself out of a paper bag!

A bit of everything. Don't go in expecting a full out comedy or drama, you'll be disappointed. It's witty and makes you stop every now and then and think," Huh..." Watch it with an open mind. Great flick, even if the pacing is a little slow for the dim-witted to appreciate.

Wonderful costumes and acting. A perfect cast for this type of movie and a great story. I really hope that it wins a Oscar and I recommend it to everyone.

Not Bad. Captures the reality of 2010. Good for a movie of the week. Worth the ticket price of a movie but bring your own food.

I really liked this movie. I thought it was perfectly cast. The story, if a little predictable, was told in an interesting way. There were lots of funny moments, some touching moments, and definitely some sad ones as well. We went for a Valentine's Day date and it was a good choice.

Slow paced but keeps you involved with the conflicted and endearing characters.

Touching, well built characters, feels true. Good follow up after Juno, a director to follow. Clooney is as good as in Michael Clayton.

Enjoyable, but I have no idea why it was nominated for so many things when Brothers wasn't even nominated!

Simple and muted film that explores human relationships on the most basic level. Clooney was not acting at all; he was himself. Definitely not a romcom. Cheers. Acting ensemble was superb.

This movie was based on entertaining the public in a disrespectful way, with situations in life that can be very tragic. I thought it was done in poor taste.

Excellent movie all around. Acting, screenplay and directing! Clooney gives his most riveting performance to date. The supporting cast hold more than their own.

This movie is pure junk! George Clooney never misses an opportunity to spout how non-commital he is. Ho Hum, how very tiresome this drivel is getting. This movie just insults your intelligence and is not worth even renting. Do yourself a favor, spend your money elsewhere.

The performances in this film definitely outshine the story. The plot held my interest for about 40 min. Then it bogged down a bit, in the end, I was thankful that the writer didn't cave and turn it into a total chick flick. I thought that Anna Kendra turned in a very strong performance and it was worth seeing that.

This is not so much a comedy as a a satire. But CinemaClock doesn't have that category, so... As far as the movie goes, I thought it was simply satisfactory, but forgettable. Some scenes were quite good, both funny and more serious, but I did find it a little pretentious at times. Perhaps is this a movie which suite a specific age group?

I really felt uncomfortable as the movie progressed, so it is a dark comedy. Motivational backpack philosophy had an initial appeal, but it separates us from our journey, family and friends. Feelings kept in silos... compartmentalization or something similar which sounds discreet and clean. Life is messy. Why internet downsizing as it nearly affects every family especially now as we experience the worst depression in several generations! A movie for times as it grabs you, slaps your emotions around and then offers a twist. Still with me at some unconscious level. Great.

This is a depressing movie... the only reason I stayed awake was the fact it made me depressed... for three reasons, the plot, the acting, and the fact I wasted my money!

This movie couldn't quite decide if it was a comedy or a drama; a light-hearted portrait of a somewhat pathetic lifestyle or a poignant look into the cold abyss of corporate unemployment in today's economy. It's all of those things. The more I think about it after seeing it, the more it seems like the serious side (unemployment) was put in to make the lighter side more meaningful, and the comedy was put in to make the darker stuff more palatable. I'm not sure the combination worked entirely, although I did enjoy the film overall. Somehow they managed to paint a picture of a very distasteful profession as being relatively better than the alternative. Is that a good thing or just good spin? *shrug* The picture of corporate reality is still a pretty ugly one, no matter how much you airbrush it with comedy.

If you are not judgmental and go with the flow, then the movie is good to watch. If you analyze too much about people's values etc, then you may not enjoy this movie at all. So go with an open mind.

Note to Potential Audience Members: This is NOT a slapstick, bone-headed comedy. Rather, this is an exploration of life's priorities. There are funny bits, yes, but there are also highly introspective, thoughtful, poignant scenes, designed to make one reassess what is and is not important. The nice thing is that the film is not heavy-handed like so much that comes from the bowels of Hollywood. There are no stunts or car chases to numb the viewer to the themes. Instead, there is realistic dialogue and painfully realistic events. Most surprisingly, pretty much all the characters in the film are sympathetic. We can see ourselves reflected in everyone who stepped in front of the camera. Bottom line: While the pace is slower than many are used to, the script is solid and the performances believable. It rates a 7 - Good movie, worth seeing.

I did not find it boring at all but, if this is Oscar material, God help us! I expect something less obvious and predictable to qualify for such title and this movie has none. On the pro side, really great, stimulating dialogues. I am also starting to think, like others, that Clooney can play just a role now. I like him in that role but he is no Sean Penn (for example) And this movie is no Syriana or Confessions of a dangerous mind (and I doubt he would argue with that...), that is for sure. Overall decent movie to spend your 2-hrs, better if at home, but not really something the history of Cinema will remember.

The two people who went with me both thought it just okay (6) One of them was 83 and the other 22. I felt it was worth seeing and very interesting. It engaged me the whole time. The acting was spot on. However I wouldn't consider it a comedy... more of a satire. Clooney was strong and I think he'll get an Oscar nomination and perhaps one or two of his co-actors.

Really enjoyed this movie, acting was super, story was entertaining and timely. The style of the movie was so simple and matter of fact, refreshing really. Just a good story, modern theme, well told. This is not just because I am old either, I dragged my 17 year old along and she was truly delighted and is now recommending it to her friends.

Up in the Air categorized as a comedy? Hm I don't think so. It was a quite serious movie concerning the content. About a man who had to travel around the US and fire people, about a man who didn't have a regular lifestyle and the difficulties he was faceing with family and his love life... I would have liked it more if it really had been more funny... Nonetheless it wasn't bad though and it's easy to follow. You are not gaining or losing anything if you watch this.

Up in the Air is a typical romantic comedy. It's nice to watch but nothing more. George Clooney can only play George Clooney. This movie is a rental. Wait until it comes in DvD.

Surprisingly good movie. It's refreshing to see a film someone actually bothered to write a script for, for a change. In fact, I enjoyed it immensely. Not a masterpiece, I'd give it a solid 9, but I want ot bring the average rating higher, the movie certainly deserves it.
