This movie was a very realistic documentation of the life of Mohammed Ali. Very long but worth seeing. Some boring parts, but the satisfaction at the end is very rewarding. See it now.

Not bad... Will Smith was great as The Champ He studied hard and probably trained hard, though his phisique wasn't quite there. Great fight sequences and a good portrial of Cosell. But not good... WAY too much music. This has to be the only Action-Musical I have ever seen. It was too drawn-out and downright boring at times.

The movie was not very good I thought it would be at least interesting but it's not even that its pretty boring its like sitting in a history class for 3 hours! And its obvious that hes always gonna win the boxing maches. All he does is box and has sex with women and his voice is so anoying he never shuts up! I like Muhamad Ali I just think that they should make a better movie about him.

This is one of the best movies in a long time. Although long the movie doesn't seem to drag out for a long time. The fight scenes were amazing. I Also think the DVD will be great because of the deleted scenes. I think you should see this movie because there may not be another one like it. Will Smith also looks a lot like Ali himself.

Being a younger person, I was pathetically unknowledgable about Muhammad Ali. So this movie was quite educating and interesting. It is a biography about one of the most written about people in history, so naturally people are going to get slightly bored. I thought this is Will Smith's best performance yet. A truly inspiring movie!

Real boring, man was the trailer 100 times better than the movie, its long, 2h39mins, this is murda!!! The time line is not well explained, like he got his fighting license suspended for a fiew years and in da movie, they made it look like it was 6 months, bad movie, dont go see it and dont rent it. If you want action, download the trailer and thats it, aight peace.

Le film est très très long. Par contre, la réalisation, les prises de vues, le montage sont excellents. La prestation de Will Smith aussi. Franchement, il m'a étonné. Mais sinon c'était vraiment trop long. Il y a des longueurs incroyable. Will Smith sauve vraiment le film. Il est préférable de louer ce film quand il sera dans les vidéos.

Is it just me or did they have stuff in the trailer that wasn't in the movie? Too long of a movie to skip so much. They briefly touched on everything, yet explained nothing. Not a waste of time, but not a good job either. Had the potential to be good.

It was a very good movie. Yes it was long. But Will's Smith performance made me forget about it. I didn't know much of ali but after I saw the movie I knew more then before. Who knew he was a funny man. This is a real movie of someone's life YOU CAN'T CHANGE HISTORY! And if you wanted to know more about his childhood the movie would of been longer. This was a movie about the world greatest I advice you to go see IT!

Not that great. I think it is because nobody can really play the Great Mohammed Ali. Ven will Smith, who I usually adore.

Not as great as I expected. Actually it wasn't even close. I found the movie to contain very short brief scenes which were important for the movie and instead they made unimportant scenes lengthy. Being an Ali fan I was immensely disappointed. Just rent it, if you really need to see the movie.

Good movie. Will Smith plays his part very well, and the directing, although I'm sure missed out a couple of aspects of Ali's life, was very good too.

Ali is a disappointment. No thrilling fight scenes. No thrilla in Manilla. Just a hazy script that can't decide if it's a movie about boxing or a movie about a political activist. The story jumps around so much that we loose focus and leave the theater with a diminished impression of a man who was clearly the most famous of his era.

I'm sorry to say this movie was a disappointment. After all the hype it could not have lived up to expectations anyway. It was an okay movie on its own, but I thought it failed miserably in terms of being biographical. The focus of the story was confusing and erratic, there was an unnecessary amount of sex, and the character of Ali himself was unclear. Most of the time he sounded like a conceited horny rebel desperately looking for a cause just because he had the public's attention. However Will Smith did look remarkably like Ali and his efforts at building up his physique and learning to fight like Ali are commendable.

This movie was very good but also very very long. They could have cut out a lot of parts without hurting the story. I find Will Smith played his role very well and they got some very important parts of Mohammed Ali's life into the story. I love all the funny jokes Mohammed (Will Smith) says in the movie.

Good Acting! I guess the crtics come from the fact that the title is Ali, otherwise, this movie would get booed!

A nice attempt - but Ali as a fighter and personality, was not captured in this movie. Although the actors in this movie have done an excellent job in their difficult roles, I don't feel that I learnt that much about Ali neither in terms of his personality, goals, or boxing..

Booring... although I knew I wouldn't love this movie I was bored out of my mind. The stories drag on and there's no real story line, we are just jumping through his life, starting at the middle of Ali's life and then there are racial connotations, references to malcolm x that contribute nothing to the movie but just serve to confuse the viewer. If you do go see the movie, make sure to bring something to eat because this movie is quite long.

I just saw Ali and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was absolutely amazed by Will Smith's portrayal of Ali. He chanded his body size, movements and demeanor to fit the role. Nora Gaye also did an excellent job. I wish that it did say a little more his childhood and his disease. Still an 8 out of 10.

Good movie, because I knew it was based on a real person... but way too long! I feel that the story could have been told and realitically portrayed in a shorter amount of time. The acting is very well done, one of will smith's best, and I would recommend this movie if you don't mind a little dragging.

The only good thing about the movie was how well Will Smith performed. It appeared he did alot of preparing for this one. The movie as a whole was horrible. It had several unnecessary scenes. It was also poorly directed. This was definitely a missed opportunity for the Ali story. Hopefully someone will come out with a better version.

Smith is Ali. Surprised by small but great performances by Ron Silver and Jamie Foxx. Great acting and visuals. Film can be 20 minutes shorter and would'nt change much. Disappointed in storyline - Ali had a life before Don King. Worth seeing but dont expect to be knocked down.

This film defies comparison to any previous attempt for its genre. Mann and his team have skillfully created a near cinematic masterpiece with well placed loving brushstrokes and careful attention to detail that faithfully recaptures the spirit and era of the time in which is set with accuracy, poignancy and respect. The film chronicles the high and low periods of Ali's life against the backdrop of the tremendous social change and upheaval that was the America of the fifties and seventies. An excellent Oscar calibre performance from Will Smith deftly portraying Muhummad Ali in a rising to the occasion manner: uncannily affectuating the heavyweight champs manner and demeanor inside the ring as well as out.

Michael Mann's genius has once again come through to create one of the best biographical, and boxing films of all time. Mann's great lengths to produce some of the most amazing fight sequences did not go unrewarded. His focus of Ali's wives, his association with his religion and with Malcolm X, and his Political stances were a perfect blend. Mann's incorporation of music, with lengthy shots fit in fantastically, and made Muhammad Ali look not only like one of the biggest personalities of all time but also human. Will Smith deserves the Oscar for this role, and Michael Mann deserves the Oscar for best director. The one thing about this movie is that it did not follow all the rules of a typical bio-pic, Mann stuck to his own style, and by God it worked.

A real wasted opputrunity! Could have been soooo much better. Not even worth being rented. You will be spending 15 minuted staring at WIll Smith running and then another 15 minutes with him running with som cool music in the background. Too bad, I was really anxious to see this one.

I really enjoyed the movie. Will Smith really impressed me. His acting was fabulous and the changes he made to his body are exceptional. I have to admit that the movie was long. Some of the scenes could've been cut a little shorter. That why I'm not giving it a 10.

Ali (the man) is the GREATEST personality of our time!!! Ali (the movie) does not do him justice!!! Will Smith is excellent... but the movie drags on (having a remote control would have made this film so much better!) Wait for this one to come out on video.

Will Smith did an awesome job with Ali. I couldn't believe how much he actually looked and sounded like him. I liked this movie because it was very well thought out and before I watched it I never knew half the stuff about Ali like he changed his name and he has alot of wifes. The only thing I didn't like about it was how long it was. It was about three hours and they put some parts in there that they didn't even need and it made the movie kinda boring. But other then that Ali was a very good movie and kind of a sad movie.

I thought that Will Smith did a good job with this movie. I did find the movie alittle to long though. At times I found myself falling asleep. It didnt tell me enough about the life of Ali as I thought that it would. Ok, he was married a few times and was a good boxer. What else? What is he doing now? I was glad that I went to see it on a cheap night. Good work on Will Smiths side. It was nice to see him in another movie.

This movie was very slow. This movie had absolutely nothing to do with how good or bad Will Smith's acting was. It all came down to poor directing. There were parts in the film where the focus was on a lady or man singing, rather than following the main characters. There was lot of focus on Malcolm X at the beginning, which is fine, but there was no real story behind how they became close friends. The movie could have cut out a lot of the jargon, and enlightened us on more interesting aspects.

I was very disappointed in the movie, despite the terrific acting done by Jon Voight and Will Smith. I knew no more about Ali when I left the theatre than I did when I went in. Too much background noise, too much out-of-focus shots. It failed to explain why Ali was the way he was and failed to describe his present illness (not even a mention in the print update at the end). Very disappointing.

I was disappointed at the narrow scope of this movie. I thought they should have shown more of his childhood and / or later years where he developed Parkinson's disease. The events the movie focuses on are common knowledge. Will Smith was amazing, though. So was Marvin Gaye's daughter as Ali's second wife.
