Interesting take by Frank Miller and Zack Snyder on probably the most famous battle of ancient history – the Battle of Thermopylae in Greece. This film introduces new technology on the big screen through the use of super-imposition chroma key techniques which make viewers feel as if they are watching a comic book in real time. The movie gives spectacular battle scenes and does a good job in showing the moral code, culture, and fighting techniques of the Spartans – probably the greatest warriors of all time. While the movie tries to follow the spirit of the retelling of this legendary battle and the telling of the strength of Sparta, I would have preferred a more grounded production and none of this computer generated graphic novel filming nonsense. This graphic novel take does a disservice to the actual historic battle.
