    Adaptation

This picture is all about writing for film. The main character is a screenwriter trying to adapt a book for the motion picture screen. This picture pokes fun at the screenwriting process most notably how to establish a story structure that moves the picture along. This film then tries to deliver a good story by breaking all the rules it mocks including having no recognizable structure tying the story and the characters together. Yet this film entertains using story elements unique to filmmaking and delivering these elements in unique and novel ways. Throw in a couple of plot twists and some pseudo-intellectual pop psychology and you have what some people are calling a brilliant film... but is it really? You will have to see the film yourself to decide, and I guess that makes it worth seeing.
