Some people have wrongly given this movie a low score, because it's dark and depressing. Guess what? It's based on a dark and depressing play. Before you buy your next movie ticket, spend five minutes on the internet and do your research. Fortunately for the rest of us, the playwright Tracy Letts ("Killer Joe") also wrote the film version. So the movie is quite faithful to the Pulitzer Prize winning play. It sounds so clichéd, but Meryl Streep's performance is Oscar-worthy. Most of the cast is outstanding, with the exception of Benedict Cumberbatch and Juliette Lewis. There are some comedic moments, but for the most part it has a bleak outlook on life. If you can handle the subject material, you should definitely see this movie.
