    Blackboard Jungle

Blackboard Jungle of 1955 gives us a first direct look at the problems facing inner city schools from the racial diversity of the school, juvenile delinquency, unsuitable programs of learning that little to foster anything worth while in the students. The film stars Glen Ford as a devoted teacher just about at the end of his rope. Sydney Poitier, just about to break open in a stunning career plays one of the delinquents. A very noble effort fighting for better schools and education. Blackboard Jungle was an enormous hit as one reads in the trade papers of the day!
