Audiences slip into a convincing portrayal of the 1950s Cold War era in the US with a Russian spy trial, which is juxtaposed with U-2 spy planes and pilots being prepped to fly over the Soviet Union to learn where their missiles are kept. What's not to like if you're a student a cinéma vérité in the form of historical drama. I did. Ironically, while it was a more naïve time, it seemed to be one filled with more political decency, at least as portrayed in the film. So a mild comment on our own times perhaps.
