Captain America: The Winter Soldier

While Captain America was never my favourite Avenger, I was still very much looking forward to this film. Maybe it's because I'm a Marvel (and superhero in general) movie fan. I also thought the trailers looked intriguing, and the reviews were good. Not only were my expectations met, they were blown away by this movie. I am not a person who will tell you that every Marvel movie is good just because I am a fan, as there were a few films that didn't work for me. But trust me when I say that Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a great film, and that you really should see it. The script was well done, distinguishing itself as a superhero movie/political thriller, while still allowing for some high intensity fight sequences. The action in this movie is very well done. The choreography is good, and the directing and sound editing are fantastic. You could "feel" every punch, and you could almost feel the bullets that flew past. The acting was what I expected; great chemistry between all the characters, actors that bring their characters to life, and a sense of actors who were having fun with their roles. The movie can be quite funny and witty at times, without becoming over-the-top and goofy. The villain was exceptional and when he first came on screen, he looked as menacing and dangerous as you would expect a villain to be. The plot in this movie did not disappoint and after seeing the directions it took my anticipation for Avengers 2 has reached a fever level. Hint: stay during the entire credits, as there are two after credit scenes. The pacing was good, and the movie felt much shorter than its two hour and twenty minute runtime. I was fully engaged in the story and can do nothing but highly recommend this movie. It is exciting, thrilling and non stop fun. It is what a superhero movie should be, and more. If I had to find any negatives, I would just be nitpicking. The movie abandoned many of the superhero clichés and I was lost in the sheer fun of the story.
