I thought this picture had a great start but in time the story did not build to any real thrills or suspense. Perhaps the story was too ambitious in that too many characters were introduced into the plot and none of them were ever really developed enough to create much impact with this viewer. That said, the film was stylishly directed and had a good cast of appealing actors but each major role had maybe 15 to 20 minutes of screen time because each character was a separate subplot to the story. Perhaps this picture was designed for today's audience with its lower expectations and shorter attention spans. If so, Contagion could catch on and do well.
