    Dallas Buyers Club

I was left almost breathless, sad and “haunted” as the movie closed with its beautiful score. It has Oscar written all over it, both for the two captivating stars; Mathew McConaughey and Jared Leto, the latter also evoking a heartwrenching portrait of his character-heartwrenching! This movie does take you on a spiritual journey for all those who have been touched in some way by AIDS. Kudos to Mathew for taking on a different genre of films. This one is sure to put him on the map in an extraordinary way. His original John Grisham movie (“A Time To Kill”) is the only other film that I’ve seen, which strayed from his type casted roles, and really let us know what he is capable of. It’s an intense story with so many statements around the FDA, the pharmaceuticals, legalities, the Westernized medical model, the human condition, suffering, torment, sadness, yes-even humour, relentlessness and how AIDs victims were literally “untouchable, ” to many. I tend to give high rankings to films worth seeing but this one takes the cake with its masterfully, talented cast and great direction. It’s a movie of great substance on so many levels. Matthew McConaughey initially shocks us in his emaciated state, an absolute must in striving for authencity and his partner in “crime” Jared Leto, is well deserving of an Oscar for best supporting role. Bring Kleenex if you have any shred of humanity! It will tug at your heartstrings. So many messages in this film and I was just blown away. The preview did look good but the movie outdid itself in every direction and if it doesn’t take the Oscars, it’s strictly politics!!
