Julie Christie was not particularly fond of her role as the ambitious Diana Scott in Darling nor said she was it worthy of any prize. It came in the same year as Doctor Zhivago and Christie preferred her performance in that film a lot more. I must agree with her but Oscar voters thought differently of the situation believing her "Darling" performance was perfect as it was.
