Edited previous post District 9 is a story that drags along without much sense of logic. There is empathy between two different life forms and also animosity. Our primary subject gets the great occasion to become something he didn't think of becoming and by some miracle takes the side of what he has become. This is pure warfare between races, a kind of Apartheid of a different kind. Characters borrowed from Star Wars and Alien and Predator are brought back to life. Johannesburg and Nelson Mandela are brought back to Life in some way. The main character gets stuck on earth for three years pending his rescue. A kind of punishment for being a part of Humans enslaving other life forms even though he thought differently. The movie is not very entertaining and kind of predictable. Lots of fire Power a la Rambo (excess) and an Elite that leaves its people stranded on Earth for an unknown period of time. The differences between the two races still exist in a co-existence more akin to exploitation and extreme force with the face of charity and empathy with "other" life forms."
