Tarantino starts off by showing his complete ignorance of the historical period in which his flick allegedly takes place by saying that the year, 1858, is "Two years before the American Civil War". The War Between the States didn't start until 1861 so Tarantino either flunked math class, history class, or both. The music which is injected periodically for no apparent reason has little or nothing to do with the story and mostly distracts from it; it's usually way too loud, also. The dialogue is frequently in 21st century Californian dialect rather than 19th century southern American. The morbid humour trails off and is dropped about a third of the way into the movie. The bloodbath scenes even manage to distract from the violence, as the audience marvels at the special effects needed to make the blood fly. The only thing that saved this too-long movie from utter disaster was the acting, in which several of the actors triumphed over the idiotic script. Tarantino, like the Coen brothers, had his day and is now just another washed-up, conceited Hollywood hack.

"Washed-up conceited Hollywood hack" -- right on! Good review, my feelings exactly. I'm appalled at all the 10/10 fanboy reviews, such knee-jerk approval just encourages more of the same from this guy.
