Dredd 3D is a good-looking movie with good performances, great special effects and backgrounds... S-F movie worlds are looking better and more realistic all the time. My primary complaint about the movie is the plot, which is thinner than the single sheet of paper it was written on (in BIG letters...) Stop me if you've heard this before: "Tough veteran cop takes barely-making-it rookie out on the mean streets to see if he (she) can cowboy up and make the grade. They get into a tight spot that ends in a huge gun battle. The rookie impresses the veteran, who gives him a passing grade." That's _all_ there is to this movie, aside from window-dressing details. The potential for a sequel is there... maybe they'll dig around in a box of crackerjacks and find a plot twist or two to make it interesting.
