"To erase the line between man and machine is to obscure the line between men and gods" and "There is nothing more human than the will to survive"
It reminds me of BLADE RUNNER... "What seems to be the problem?" Death! (Replied the Replicant (Roy) in Blade Runner-By Director: Ridley Scott) The creator (Dr. Eldon Tyrell) replied: "I am afraid that's a little out out of my jurisdiction" Replicant: "I want more Life," father"
EX MACHINA By Director & Writer: Alex Garland
This is the story of a challenge, Are we gods and if we are are we immortal? Can the Creation pose a threat to the very existence of its Gods? That's the question between Nathan and Ava, Caleb added for more meat to guide the logic, direction, discovery, success and failure. EX-Machina, Ex Machina means, no Machina anymore, human? We don't know. A.I. ? By all means. What happens when the creation carrying millenniums of experiences of Man on Earth commence to learn how to use its experience of men's minds, knowledge and tricks? Tries to adapt, manipulate, survive? We don't know but A.I. is not what we may think, seemingly all virtual and mechanic but with an unforeseen emerging mind of its own. Soul? We don't know. Will to exist? Definitely, how? Only she (AVA) knows. The movie plays like a Game of Chess, The King, The Rook, the Pawn and its players. What happens when the pawn wants to be the Queen? Impossible, right? But maybe if it is disguised as a Bishop or Knight. The Most intelligent move can lead to check mate.
The Film follows a linear logic with inscrutable outcomes depending on the moves of each player. "May the odds be ever in your favor... Gods. Is Ava the invisible Queen?
