    Exodus: Gods and Kings

There is a scene in the first Indiana Jones movie where a German symbol on a box containing the Arc of the Covenant slowly burns. Exodus in its whole fails to match the spiritual wonder of that moment. While taking liberties to try to convey character impact, i.e. Noah, is an effective means of conveying meaning and internal turmoil, this film falls flat in trying to convey wonder or meaning, but it does convey mortal anguish and suffering quite well. But this is the story of Moses and this is just lost in the film. Great battle scenes and CGI almost rescue the film, not not enough.
