This devastating film is based on true facts concerning the well known Dupont family, once a dynasty. Carrel, Tatum and Ruffalo are only brilliant in their roles... and I liked the matriarch played by Vanessa Redgrave. She can never do any wrong on stage or screen. Don't expect action or much dialogue. It needs little of these things yet we get a background of information to create a haunting mood of tension and menace. We are in a privileged world but a pretty sick one at that. FOXCATCHER is truly a disturbing film that draws us into a trio of desperate characters as we get a glimpse of an American dream that's truly ugly. The movie is a tense, well acted, real life tale with psychological surprises that should suck you into the drama if YOU ARE AT ALL A THINKING PERSON! If you're not, stay at home. You won't know what the h*** to make of this gem. Steve Carel and Mark Ruffalo are shoe-ins for Oscar nominations. Tatum is fantastic... his best role to date. Unfortunately the Best Actor Category, much like last year, will have to leave out many brilliant performances as there are just too many!
