My great Uncle used to talk about World War I and II (he was in both) He lived to 103 folks! Anyway, he described the mud, the bullets whizzing by your ears, and the sleepless nights and days. I can't imagine what horrors he'd seen. For some reason, the mud and grime, violence and fight for survival in this movie really reminded me of him. It was realistic. I kept thinking "How could people just hate each other like that? " and kept waiting for them to treat each other like human beings. BUT that is the reality of war. I would recommend this if you like historical war movies. The tanks were amazing. I can't imagine practically living in those tuna cans, muddy, sweaty and bloody, day in, day out. Yikes. Brad Pitt was excellent, and so were the rest of the cast. Keep and eye out for Clint Eastwood's son in this one.
