    Get on Up

Musical genius James Brown was a difficult personality, not surprising, considering his miserable childhood which involved horrible poverty and abuse. Despite his success as "The Godfather" of soul, he had few friends. This movie really explodes with fire and energy when Brown is in concert. Many great hits are included here: "Please, Please, Please", "Pappa's Got a Brand New Bag", "This is a Man's World". Chadwick Boseman's interpretation of Brown's appearance and personality is downright astonishing. This biopic is not afraid to present Brown as the tortured entertainer who insisted on being called "Mr. Brown" and who referred to himself in the third person. Possible Oscars for Boseman and Nelsan Ellis as his loyal (and perhaps) only friend.
