    Going My Way

Leo McCarey's masterpiece, one might say, that triggered the best performances out of the careers of both Bing Crosby and Barry Fitzgerald who were honoured for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor Oscars for their roles as priests. This long but multi-faceted film on a variety of problems within a Catholic Parish pits a younger priest with a veteran priest on how exactly a parish should be run. The comedy is delightful, the dramatic aspects are exceptional and the music of 1944 will make you beam. The young boys and teens who are so integral to this story are absolutely in top form, like seasoned actors. Going My Way won many Oscars and featured the great mezzo soprano from the Metroploltan Opera, Miss Rise Stevens right during her heyday as a Met superstar. The film never seems to age and those parish problems of 1944 are as everlastingly true in 2016.
