I am rating this film as "9"; it is excellent but look elsewhere if you want drama and excitement. This film deals with the intimate details of the relationship between a husband and wife who have been married for a long time. It takes a really good actress and a really good actor to pull this off; Meryl Streep is excellent as always and, while you might at first brush think that he was mis-cast, Tommy Lee Jones is also excellent in his role. And, when you think about how films are made, a film like this needs an outstanding director to keep it all together, and David Frankel measures up. I would like to think that this film was Oscar material, but I fear that it does not appeal to a sufficiently wide audience.
