Mark Ruffalo gives an excellent portrayal of someone with a bi polar illness. These people when hypomanic can be very funny, gregarious, and can accomplish much. It is a fine line between functioning and not functioning. This movie brings that out. The children Imogene and Ashley were brilliant in this movie. Their relationship with their father was very believable. They handled their father's illness better than their mother. In Silver Linings Playbook the audience laughed at Bradley's character behaviour and in this movie the audience laughed at Mark' character's behaviour; both were having meltdowns probably from not taking their meds. This shows how the illness is not understood. Movies like this will help people understand better bi polar illness. When you are laughing they are really sick.
