This modestly budgeted scarefest has influences dating back to the Halloween films of John Carpenter. The movie provides us with loads of atmosphere and some jump-out-of-your-seat moments but the climactic scenes (reminiscent of Jacques Tourneur's Cat People) in a swimming pool are unsatisfactory as are the very last ones in the film's closing.
