    Jupiter Ascending

I knew that Jupiter Ascending was going to be an awful movie from the get-go. The trailers were awful and the premise seemed pretty stupid. However, I did have some hope. Mainly because the Wachowskis made The Matrix and more recently Cloud Atlas. Well, after seeing this in IMAX 3D, I could say that I was unfortunately right the first time. Jupiter Ascending might be one of the WORST sci-fi movies I've ever seen.

    THE GOOD:

+ The visuals and cinematography were gorgeous. The CGI was pretty nice and the effects were great.

+ The musical score by Michael Giacchino is incredible. I will be listening to it in the future.

+ Sean Bean is pretty good, though not in the film too much.

+ The movie does have its moments. There are a couple of cool ideas that are introduced and there are a couple of awesome action sequences.

    THE BAD:

    - Here's where things get nasty. Firstly, THE WRITING! Holy mother of all things holy, the writing was bad! My three year-old self could have written a better screenplay than this trash! There were some laughably bad lines, which include, and I'm not kidding," bees were genetically modified to locate royalty". WHAT!? It wasn't even supposed to be remotely funny. Some of the romantic dialogue was so bad that I covered my ears.

    - Mila Kunis is a decent actress. Over the years, she has proven herself to be fine. However, in this movie, she's horrible. She shows no emotion at all and acts dumb as hell through the whole movie.

    - Oscar nominated Eddie Redmayne's performances is hilariously horrible. He whispers everything he says until he screams the last TWO WORDS!!! Dude, what are you doing? You're an Oscar nominated actor, for God's sake!

    - The story is simply put... dumb. It tries to be smart, but fails miserably. It tries to be epic, but comes off as boring and dull.

    - Speaking of boring, the movie was over two hours and felt like four. I was anxiously waiting for it to end.

    - Some green-screen parts were totally obvious and weigh down the good effects the movie has!

Overall, Jupiter Ascending is a total mess. The writing is atrocious, the acting is awful, the story is all over the place and it was dull. The only redeeming parts of this flick is the special effects and the musical score. Skip it!

    RATING: 2.5/10.
