Kick Ass lovingly reproduces a comic book story line right down to its vivid use of colour and camera shots that so closely depict the art panels of your favorite comic mag. Director Matthew Vaughn, then turns it up several notches with the kind of intense live-action Hollywood filmmaking that most of us know and many of us live for. The picture is sprinkled with many shocking scenes and adult content yet the real star of this sure to be sleeper hit is an eleven-year girl who knows how to put the 'super' into super-hero; 'Hitgirl' is a pure delight. This picture rewrites the way comic-book based movies should be made and makes Spiderman and Batman films look like walks in the park. If I was a big fan of the genre I would rate this movie at least an '8' but for the casual viewer that I am a '7' still makes Kick-Ass something worth seeing for most filmgoers.
