It seems strange to be writing a review diametrically opposed to the only other person who wrote one on LA CICATRICE or THE SCAR, a French Canadian film from 2013. Was it two different films we saw? Can't figure out how the person scored it a 10, a hyperbolic rating, I would say. Where La Cicatrice takes the all too familiar theme of BULLYING to a different dimension, it takes far too long, in fact, FOREVER to get there. MUCH OF THE TIME I had problems figuring out exactly what was going on due to time lines of the film. The very ugly and annoying sound of Québecois French did not help matters. At only 80 minutes, this short film had a bit too much filler, which further annoyed me. Seemed so much longer!!! I WAS CRAVING SOMETHING MORE TAUT AND THRILLING from CICATRICE! Only the last 10 minutes or so bring out the pent up psychological frustration of the drama... with an ironic TWIST that really threw me for a loop. By this point, however, it was much too late to salvage anything from this dull and doomed feature film. This was a waste of time except for 7 perfect minutes.
