We've witnessed this scenario time and time again worldwide and it is not a pretty picture. It's actually very scary to watch a middle class almost disappear, the rich a hell of a lot richer and the poor, well you know where they lie in the scheme of things." Le Capitale " becomes a type of fable on the greed for money, money becoming a religion for contemporary society. The entire democracy of the banking system is nothing but a placebo to many minds in this day and age. This is all political and economic oppression which unfortunately seems to be accepted. What I found astounding is that the entire coterie of this film's characters are cold, ruthless, heartless business persons without one human emotion in their body. What one might imagine to be a good life is nowhere to be found in CAPITAL.

This is not a feature I liked very much as I view it as a film many would have difficulty in following, so convoluted are matters. In the end one can say the theme of the film is AN INTEREST or MONOMANIA IN POWER which would obviously include everything I have noted above. The film bored me more than a few times so I can't possibly rate it very highly. I do believe Costa-Gavras had very good intentions in exposing this nasty world once again, but it falls a mite short.
