This was my first encounter ever with Xavier Dolan, a good way to start, seeing him in a triple threat mode as writer, director and actor. I've now seen all of his films, never disappointed! Granted this is not a film for everyone. I could tell by a number of the comments. Teaching at the U of T is an ongoing lesson of today's lifestyle of the 20 something crowd. Nothing, not a thing struck me odd or unusual in this tale of true obsession and what some would call a perverted life style! I see this world under my very nose on a daily basis! It was all as real as it gets! For those with problems and hang-ups, CHECK what you're seeing before laying down the bucks. You might not like what's happening in contemporary society, so turn a blind eye to it. You are the master of your own destiny! Whatever you do KEEP AWAY from films such as " LES AMOURS IMAGINAIRES " or Heartbeats as called in English.
Warning: All of Xavier Dolan's films including " J'ai tué ma mère " (I killed my mother) ", Tom a la ferme " ( Tom at the farm ), and especially MOMMY for which he won the JURY PRIZE at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014... they are all very disturbing films with extraordinary themes, violence and bad language that never ends. If you can't handle controversial, always Canadian based material... DON'T SEE THE FILMS!!! It's that simple!.. A word to the wise!
