    Life Itself

The Entertainment field has always fascinated the public to the detriment of other, more critical matters. Now with the internet we can see at any time its impact. At this moment eight of the top ten topics on Yahoo 'trending now' are related to the professional amusement field. Roger Ebert, an 'A' personality, was an intelligent, talented man with excellent communication skills both in writing and verbally and was passionately in love with movies. His film reviews gave the public considerable insight into this field. Although he was considered an accomplished individual (Pulitzer prize for critical writing), his creativity actually accomplished nothing of lasting value, other than entrenching himself as an icon in the field. At least three, maybe more, films are released daily world-wide, and few of these will have lasting value. Ebert was continually required to tackle a new set of contenders and it was always necessary for him to convince his readers anew of his expertise. Although the disintegration of the human body is not a pleasant site, Mr. Ebert's last stroll in the park neither sets him apart from the rest of mankind nor elevates him above his television partner, Gene Siskel. Whereas Ebert was an open individual, Siskel was a far more private person. He died of a cancerous brain tumor only seventeen days after making his illness public. Nonetheless, this film is about Ebert, not Siskel. Ebert appeared to be willing to face both life and death with a positive attitude and his presence made the film industry stronger... in spite of the occasional 'thumbs down'.
