If there is a better film than Lone Survivor at demonstrating the bravery and sheer will to fight on of Navy Seals, then I certainly haven't seen it. It is evident that both director Peter Berg and star/producer Mark Wahlberg took great care in re-telling the harrowing true story of soul survivor Marcus Luttrell and his 3 fallen comrades, all of whom fought for their lives atop a mountain in Afghanistan after being sent in to capture a high priority Taliban target. What unfolds is a tragic loss of life, making this film hard to watch at times. Thankfully the honor and bravery shown by several Afghan villagers in protecting Luttrell lifts the spirit a bit, but this is not a joyous film. It is however, a strong cinematic tribute to the sacrifice these men made, not for politics, or for Afghanistan, but for their brothers.
