An interesting film; but it suggests that Mandela was a one-man saviour of South Africa. I can't rule out this possibility, but my experience suggests that it is highly unlikely; nearly all great men become great because they command the loyalty, respect and commitment of the people around them. The film presents the changes in Mandela's life, particularly the evolution in the way the white supremacist regime treated him, but the reasons for this evolution are not explained. Aside from these concerns, I felt that Idris Elba's portrayal of Mandela was entirely believable, and Naomie Harris was equally believable as Winnie Madikizela.
