    Maps to the Stars

Seems there are a couple of David Cronenberg's. The quirky "wack-job" Scanners proponent, and the master behind "History of Violence, Eastern Promises, A Dangerous Method" etc. "Maps to the Stars" is a big rearward step. Hollywood is fond of alphabetized lists, this deals with the lower orders. It's a film about irony, and feels somewhat of a score keeping in-joke. This should never have got past a couple of lunch meetings. I'm sure there are far better notions riding around in the trunks of cars down there. Maybe that's the point. Tale all about veneer, the facile and corruption. Ironically, this did get made, notable talents got on board, Telefilm Canada and other backers rallied to the project. That's the irony of it, joke's on us.
