One of my all-time favourite Clint Eastwood movies based on the novel of the same name. We are in the deep American South with a slew of odd ball characters, complicated situations of a personal, societal and sexual nature. If that were not enough we get sidetracked by a trans woman, voodoo, the rage of hell all happening under the roof of a very powerful Southern Gentleman, a Gay Esquire who shall remain nameless. And then we do spend time with the spooks in the GARDEN or cemetery of good and evil. John Cusack, Kevin Spacey, Jude Law, Jack Thompson, Irma Hall, Kim Hunter, Dorothy Louden and THE LADY CHABLIS all contribute dazzling performances. This is not the usual fare of Clint Eastwood, but I was delighted with the results. A Fabulous Film! If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, give MIDNIGHT a try. No way will you be disappointed.
