I was very disappointed and found it totally misleading. The description referred to a gay politician being killed. The movie was more about gay lifestyle, with a lot more details than necessary. I really do not mind seeing such details if the movie is good (I loved Brokeback Mountain) In this case, Sean Penn was great but I did not even care that his character get shot. He was not really likeable.

I don't agree that his character was not likeable, but that's a matter of personal taste. But to actually write that you were disappointed to see homosexual lifestyle being portrayed in this film is just ignorant. I can maybe see how even at your age (50+) this crucial landmark of a person and an advocate of human rights could possibly blow right over your head... But, come on, you said it yourself - this was a movie about a "gay politician being killed". What happened to putting 2 and 2 together? What would the movie be about? His, I don't know, straight cousin from Vermont? Why - because a movie about a straight person's life and battle would be much more digestible? Ever heard of the previews? Or did you still think it was misleading after seeing that? Well, then I rest my case...
Also, although the person who has previously responded to this critique did an excellent job, I might add that a very large amount of films (99 percent) portray a "straight lifestyle" and while that may occasionally be offensive to me - I would never critique a film for that in itself. You just saw a piece of history, a pivotal moment in our lives, and to complain about seeing two people's intimate connect is ridiculous.
How dare you judge me because I didn't like this movie? I have lived in the gay village for 5-1/2 years. My review is about the movie, not about the lifestyle and I have every right to say it. Everybody should have equal rights. I repeat, equal, not superior. But since you judge people by their age, I guess you're not that open minded yourself.
Umm, I've lived in the gay village for 6 and a half years... What does that have to do with not being able to follow some logic about what the movie might be about? If you notice, I said that your dislike of Penn's performance was a matter of personal taste. Scroll up a little, there is a reviewer who gave this film a 4 and said that it was dull and slow. I didn't post a reply there, did I? Because that's their person taste. But to tell me that the movie had too much homosexual content.. ? That's not personal taste. Try telling a Black person the movie had too many Black people in it, I would like to see their reaction. Obviously, you just want to argue because someone didn't agree with you, because you are not even understanding what my comments were about. Judging you by your age? I said that in reference to you, at your age (50+) possibly still not knowing who Milk was. Fine, you known of him. End of discussion. Geez!
