Nebraska is a moderately entertaining movie with a decent performance by Bruce Dern and some mildly funny scenes throughout. It is not, however, even in the same league as other Oscar contenders such as Captain Philips or Twelve Years a Slave. Perhaps its dreary black and white portrayal of the American midwest made it popular with the artsy crowd at the small movie festivals, but it is no Oscar contender. Save yourself the money and rent it for a $1 when it's availalbe at the Red Box.
