Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb

I'm not much for sequels, heavy CG involvement, nor Ben Stiller's all too frequent sanctimony. This should have been complete bust for me, but it wasn't. There had to be a wrap to this "franchise" who knew it would leave so tastefully. Nicely paced, bit zany but restrained... and not so run amok. The human stories were better handled too. Nice to see Mickey Rooney one last time, the old guard were fine and fun. Thought the relocation across the pond reinvigorating. Dan Stevens gave up Downton Abbey to feature here, pretty well too. While incredibly gifted, Robin Williams took some roles that undermined him. His work here puts light on that sensitive humanity that shone in his very best work, apt last scene for him, and us. Little did we know. Not one for the ages, but laudable and fitting considering the weight of its farewell.
