This is a great Bond movie... made as if by someone who had never seen a Bond movie before. All the cheesy humour is gone; all the goofy gadgets and silly cartoon villains and 'Bond girls'. What remains is a stripped-down action adventure starring a super-cool, though not completely invulnerable, secret agent that goes after his enemies like a pitbull in a tux. He has his flaws, but unlike Jason Bourne, he's an moral actor... not a reactive victim of events. True, there are things about the current reboot of Bond... the disposable love interests, his relationship with M and the emphasis on action and chases rather than intrigue... that I don't quite love. However I'm finding it vastly preferable to the tired formula that characterized the Bond franchise through the last dozen or more movies. This movie feels like the middle of a trilogy... bring on the sequel!
