    Religulous

Religion is man accepting GOD on their terms. So what you’ll obviously get is many strange ideas. Bill Maher takes advantage of some of the weirdness you find in religion (and he’ll make a lot of money doing it) I give him credit in stating he doesn’t know if there’s a god or not. It’s amazing people can be absolute (atheists) about their belief in non belief (does that mean they have all knowledge – hmm? Doesn’t that make them god? Hmmm) I believe in GOD (more specifically I have faith in Jesus Christ) because (for me) it takes more faith not to believe. It’s also a hopeless existence without belief in GOD. Think about the alternative – life without GOD (no heaven, no relationship, no true justice, no peace, no love, no purpose to life) No thanks, Bill. "I’d rather be a fool (Religulous) in the eyes of man, than a fool in the eyes of GOD".

Sir: the main point of the films message is that mankind in general is walking in a trance of self deception, so a generally miserable life becomes more bearable (religion is a drug) In that fog of neglecting reality we are walking on a selfdestructive road. As he says: "Wake up or die. No need to argue about the rest, as it is just window dressing.

Well said jefford, it's about personal choice... no one knows for sure, and even Maher admits that. He's merely pointing out the damaging things people have done in the name of religion. But it's my understanding Maher is an anti-theist, not an atheist. He believes religion is harmful and I would have to agree.

What about the damaging things people have done in the name of the 'God', science, hmmm? Does the name Oppenheimer come to mind? What about those fools in Switzerland who are trying to discover the origins of the Universe, by dangerously smashing atoms together. They could cause a rift in the space time continuum, or a minute black hole could result in the annihilation of every living thing on this planet, and in this solar system? There are no atheists in the trenches. Not one of you religion de-bunkers has a clue of their origins - science or religion be damned. No thyself, and then you will know everything. Seek your own origins beyond the cloud of your mind/ego, and divest yourself of dogmatic reasoning. Only then can you speak. No thyself. Period. Otherwise, admit that you don't know anything at all, because from where I'm sitting, you don't have a smidgen of a clue about anything anyways, might as well fess up.

Hey John Lennon - Imagine - its easy if you try. Mark Twain (well nearly) - I was dead for billions of years before I was born and it caused me no discomfort; I'll be dead for billions of years after I die and I expect the same. Course, you probably think it should be I was dead for 6000 years...

I don't subscribe to your point of view (nor John Lennon's or Mark Twain) Thank you for your reply.

No faith to be an atheist. Just the opposite. A lack of faith. I think it takes more faith to believe in an all powerful being who lives outside of matter than believing in what we observe (atheism) it's easy to be absolute because there is absolutely no evidence supporting a god.

It's a shame you don't see the potential of life. Life is our Heaven: our one chance to have love and relationship and joy. When you die, you're gone. I find it an insult that you think my life has no love because I choose to believe there is no God. What a surprise you're in for when you DON'T wake up after you die. I hope you live your life to the fullest while you've got it. And he doesn't take advantage of "weirdness in religion." He talks to respected and normal people from across all walks of life and cultures. He asks straightforward questions that none of them could answer. Neither could you.

Thank you for your reply. You have a belief. Your faith is in yourself in that your opinion is right. Question? Do you have all knowledge to say ABSOLUTELY," there is no god"? Do you have all understanding in everything to be perfectly sure. Being an atheist is a self contradicting statement as only an all knowing, all understanding, all powerful (being able to confirm in all area of space and time) being can make that ABSOLUTE statement that there is no god. You (have to) become the person you are trying to refute. I can appreciate the agnostic (like BILL MAHER) who states," I don't know and I don't believe there is a god". As a theist, we need only to to show evidence of GOD's existence (the conscience in man - why obey any form of right from wrong; Design in the universe, ect...) I agree that you have a "lack of faith" as you have put it in yourself. I have put my faith in Jesus Christ (not Religion) as HE has answered the question of my origin (where did I come from), my condition (good and evil) and my future (death and life after death) I dare you to read the writings of the gospels (the book of JOHN, MATTHEW, MARK & LUKE) I used to be an atheist. I thank GOD for HIS love in showing me the way. Enjoy the shows!

"There is absolutely no evidence supporting a god." Exactly. There's no evidence of Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny either. And what is the deal with "faith? " Written like it's some fantastic thing. You get a gold star because you're foolish and stubborn enough to hold onto some crazy idea even though it's clearly CRAZY? And I get no gold star for thinking," Um, I won't waste my time with 'faith' in something that clearly deserves none." Amazing.
