    Ricki and the Flash

Despite rather negative reviews, I still wanted to see the great duo from Sophie's Choice at work again. Despite the immense talents that are Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline, the movie never really takes off and finally leads to not much to do about anything. The only one, who gets away with a certain authenticity, is the improbable Rick Springfield singer-songwriter and sometimes actor. This slice of life of a slightly dysfunctional family concludes with a song and a dance. It worked in Lindsay Anderson’s O Lucky Man a metaphorical to begin with, but falls flat in this pseudo- reality. While Meryl Streep has demonstrated her immense talent many times before, I 'm not sure that even her diehard fans are so keen to hear her sing as a rocker for more than a third of a movie. This film resembles a lot Danny Collins, Al Pacino last film and is equally disappointing.
