Searching for Bobby Fischer

YOu know, after seeing this almost 14 year old movie, I expected it to be outdated but it isn't. With an all star cast including Lawrence Fishburn and Ben Kingsley, its hard to go wrong. Even smaller roles in the movie are played by the likes of Laura Linney. Well the young boy was a prodigy there is no doubt about that. But I think what makes this movie so special isn't necessarily the tale of the young chess master, but the lesson it tries to convey. Never loose your soul, honesty, integrity, decency as a human being in the pursuit of greatness. I admire Joshua for the choices he has made and love this movie for the message it conveys. That is also not to underestimate the value of Max Pomeranc as an actor. From displaying great humility and fragility as an individual as a young kid is not an easy thing to do and he does that very well and naturally on this film.
