Not a horror film, not an action film, so sedentary it could be a stage play. Hitchcock, however, knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat. He surrounds us with normal small town people. Charming Charles comes to visit, along with his baggage. Charles (Joseph Cotton in a true leading role) plays a debonair unhealthy uncle who has judged the world with a jaundiced eye. Tiompkin's music does a great job of keeping us in the mood. Another classic film from a classic director.
