Snow White and the Huntsman

In the year of Snow White remakes (Once Upon a Time, Mirror, Mirror), Snow White and the Huntsman was surprisingly good. Perhaps my expectations going in were too low, but I found this new twist on the Snow White story to be quite entertaining. Yes, the dwarfs were too similar to the hobbits from Lord of the Rings and yes, Kristin Stewart was very much the same as Bella in the Vampire movies, but the script was good, most of the special effects were quite interesting and the various characters all seemed to work well together. In the end, the movie was much more novel and interesting than this year's untold sequels, the Avengers, in particular.
