Ossama Mohammed's first feature remains banned from screening in Syria due to its subversive critique of how the arbitrary and absolute power arrogated to men in a patriarchal society engenders a violence that pervades both familial and intimate relationships. In a small village, a double wedding becomes an occasion for high drama when one bride runs away and another refuses to go ahead with her marriage. This disruption soon tips the fragile balance of power within a family where an aging and ailing father is trying to retain his authority in the face of a challenge from his successful but corrupt eldest son.
