I held back my review a couple of weeks to see where the ratings were taking this dark and disturbing movie. And the box-office profits fell some 67% the week following the release. These are undeniable statistics and I'm glad that people are getting over this brand of darkness and violence. My belief is that the names drew people to see it, ie; Will Smith that we hadn't seen on the big screen in a bit, the ever brilliant Jay Leto and Margot Robbie. Certainly can't fault their performances but I'm wondering as they distance themselves from this movie, will they in the future view it with a sense of pride? Something went wrong, very wrong and here's hoping the producers will get it. A star each for three stellar performances is all I'm ready to give this movie.
