I have been jumping back and forth about whether to rate this film a 9 or a 10. The truth is my rating is irrelevant (full disclosure - one story line felt rushed, therefore a 9) This film is excellent, and well worth your time and money. The cast is absolutely stellar and their performances are exceptional with an obvious chemistry that creates a dynamic the audience can believe in. The action sequences are nothing short of fantastic. The use of CGI and 3D is amazing and you sometimes feel as if you are there with Spider-Man himself. I never recommend 3D, however in this case, it made the overall experience even more enjoyable. Some critics are not taking well to the tonal changes as they feel the tone of the movie switches from Saturday morning cartoon to a "Dark Knight-esque" film from time to time. However, I believe that if a film is able to do it properly thereby enhancing the viewers experience, it should be allowed to change its tone from time to time, which The Amazing Spider-Man 2 does. The movie sets itself up well for multiple sequels and spin-offs, which I can not wait for. As a final thought, even though The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is two and a half hours long, some plot points feel rushed at times as the movie covers multiple story lines. This did not bother me much as I would prefer a slightly overcrowded film rather than two films that are long and tedious. Overall, this is a great movie. It was funny, exciting, emotionally gripping at times, and pure entertainment. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the most fun I've had at the movies so far this year.
