Long before the heyday of disaster films, Alfred Hitchcock directed this frightening tale of nature gone awry with swarms of ferocious birds at the centre of it all. It's all from a Daphne du Maurier story. It takes awhile for the hard action to begin, but it turns out to be a fairly decent thriller. I found the character of the schoolteacher played by Susanne Pleshette a very enigmatic character. This is hardly Hitchcock at his very best. Check out some of his films from the 1940's and 50's for the best of Hitch. VERTIGO is a gem!
