    The Danish Girl

Great cinematography, great acting, touching/moving story... knowing it was based on a real person's life, draws the viewer in, even more. Lili Elbe/Einer Wegener was one of the first men to volunteer for sex-reassignment surgery. This brave endeavor was back during a time, when gender dysphoria was considered a serious mental health issue, that would cause people to be locked away in mental institutions - being pumped full of drugs and seriously misdiagnosed/mistreated. I suggest you read about Lili Elbe before seeing the film, quite the pioneer.
