A very interesting and well-made film, one of the better Canadian-made films that I have seen. No question that Brendan Gleeson holds this film together in the title role of Murray French. Gordon Pinsent is his worthy sidekick. Viewers will recognize many of the other actors such as Mary Walsh, Cathy Jones and Mark Critch from "This Hour has 22 Minutes" and "Red Green" but, unfortunately, they are not given much credit. A bit whimsical for my taste, but the underlying story is real and urgent. And the Newfoundland scenery is, as always, awesome.
