    The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

I don't think Tolkien would approve of this very loose adaptation. I don't even know if I can use the word adaptation as some parts of the movie are outright inventions. I have to give Peter Jackson credit for being a master of visual wizardry. He sets the bar ever higher with each movie he makes. It's definitely worth a look for that alone. It's sometimes breathtaking especially in Imax 3D. While the book is filled with humor and lightheartedness, the movie is very dramatic and dark just like Lord Of The Rings was. If you have read the book a few times and expect a carbon copy of what's inside, you are in for a shock but once you recover it's an entertaining movie nonetheless. Be aware that it's not Tolkien's Hobbit. It's Peter Jackson's Hobbit. Enjoy it anyway.
